Conference Faculty Blog – Frank Monahan

Can’t Wait To Meet You All

My name is Frank Monahan, and I’m an author…and oh yea, I’m also a publisher!  I’m never sure which title I enjoy the most, so I tell people, I love what I do from both sides of the printing press.

If you are not familiar, I write children’s books, specifically, a series of books about my real-life Basset Hounds, Stanley & Norman (www.stanleyandnorman.com).  It’s been an incredible joy writing about them and sharing my stories with children all around the United States.

But I will tell you that it was very frustrating trying to be published for the first time.  In fact, so frustrating that I made a major life decision back in 2008, and utilizing my corporate executive experience, I opened an independent publishing company that is author-friendly, that listens and tries to help frustrated authors who have a great story to tell, but are told way too often…”it doesn’t fit what we’re looking for”.  Rocket Science Productions (www.rocketscienceproductions.com) is a bustling, active, growing publishing company, and all of it due to authors from all over the world who’ve had enough of the old school way of doing business.

I’m coming to Myrtle Beach to meet you all, and listen to your stories, listen to your trials and tribulations, but most of all, to give you a proactive way of looking at the evolution of the publishing industry, and also give you a proactive way to view the potential of your being published.  Can’t wait to meet you all!

Hi Frank, I look forward to meeting you too and hearing about your first publishing experience. I don’t write about Basset Hounds but I like those dear dogs. I’ll tell you about my mother, Rita, who is from Tahiti. I’m writing a memoir about her in essay form and I’ve been around the world tracking her life!
Glad you’re coming to our beautiful Myrtle Beach. The beach is great for running and swimming. Pat FitzGerald
